Ravens HC John Harbaugh discusses injury to WR Rashod Bateman

The Baltimore Ravens are expecting big things out of their wide receiver group during the 2022 season. They traded away their No. 1 wideout during draft night in Marquise Brown, and didn’t add anyone else at the position in the draft or a veteran in free agency.

The team is trusting players such as Rashod Bateman, Devin Duvernay, James Proche II and Tylan Wallace to take steps forward and make big plays. However, both Bateman and Duvernay have dealt with injuries over the course of training camp so far, with Bateman missing his first practice on Friday. Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh gave an update on Bateman’s status on Friday, saying that he’s dealing with a minor thing but made clear that the organization is taking a cautious approach with him and others.

“…There are guys with minor things. Rashod [Bateman] is one of those guys. He probably could have gone today, and we just said, ‘No.’ We’ll probably hold him out tomorrow, too. Some of that soft tissue stuff, fatigue starts to set in. That’s where we’re at with a couple of guys…”

Bateman dealt with a soft tissue injury last training camp that he had to have surgery on, keeping him out for the first five weeks of the regular season. With the Ravens dealing with so many injuries during the 2021 season, it’s no surprise that the team wants to be careful when working their players back in from even minor ailments.
