The Baltimore Ravens 2019 regular season schedule is here and right off the bat, one of the most telling storylines so far is the fact Baltimore has three prime-time games and they will all occur within six weeks of each other.
Not to mention, among the three prime-time games, the Ravens will face two teams that went to the Super Bowl in 2018.
Baltimore faces an old AFC foe
The Ravens’ first prime-time games will occur on Sunday Night Football in Week 9 when they host the New England Patriots. It will be the first time since 2013 that New England will travel to Baltimore in a regular season game.
In addition, it will be the first time the Ravens will host the Patriots in a prime-time game since Week 3 of the 2012 season.
The interesting part about this game is the fact Baltimore will be coming off a Bye Week in Week 8. It never hurts to have an extra week to prepare against New England.
Ravens will face Eric Weddle and the Los Angeles Rams
Baltimore released Eric Weddle before free agency in February and Weddle was almost immediately snatched up by the Rams, signing a two-year deal. There’s no doubt that while Weddle respects the Ravens as an organization, he’s going to have something to prove.
Weddle was a leader on Baltimore’s defense from the day he signed a four-year deal in 2016. His intelligence on and off the field helped the Ravens maintain their status as one of the best defenses in the NFL. But now, Weddle will look to take his knowledge and use it against Baltimore.
On the other side, the Ravens will likely be the underdog in this game and they will want to make a statement win for the second consecutive season in Los Angeles, just like the Baltimore did in Week 16 in 2018 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
LB C.J. Mosley faces his old team in prime time
The Ravens third and final game in prime time will be against the New York Jets at home on Thursday Night Football in Week 15.
This matchup will certainly be an emotional one on both sides, as Baltimore will face their former four-time All-Pro starting linebacker C.J. Mosley for the first time since he signed a huge contract with the Jets in March.
Both sides were in contract negotiations leading up to and during the early hours of free agency, but New York made an offer that Mosley couldn’t refuse and one the Ravens were not willing to match.
Mosley was selected by the Ravens in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft and immediately became a leader and play caller on Baltimore’s defense. Now in Week 15, both sides will face off, with Mosley possibly getting a standing ovation from the Ravens fans.
