Ravens GM Eric DeCosta talks about the emotions of Baltimore’s draft week

The Baltimore Ravens had an exciting 2023 NFL draft weekend. They signed quarterback Lamar Jackson to a massive five-year contract on draft night, and then proceeded to put together a solid six-player draft class.

At the conclusion of the Ravens draft on Saturday, General Manager Eric DeCosta was asked what this week was like emotionally with the signing of Lamar Jackson to the draft itself. He talked about the events of the last month or so, from signing wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the other moves that were made.

“It’s been emotional. It really started … I would say this month, a lot of work has gone into this month, starting with Odell [Beckham Jr.]. Really going back to the owners’ meetings in March, it’s been a whirlwind of different emotions. We’ve worked very hard to get going, and I think at some point, we started to build some momentum which was nice, and here we are. I think we would all say we’re pretty tired, but it’s a good tired. There’s a bad tired and a good tired, and this is a good tired. I think we’ll sleep well tomorrow, and we’ll enjoy tomorrow with our families – all the coaches and scouts – and we’ll get back to work on Monday.”
