Report: Ravens give LB Patrick Onwuasor 2nd-round tender

The Baltimore Ravens are working on their restricted free agents ahead of the official start of free agency. First up on the list is linebacker Patrick Onwuasor. The Ravens have tendered Onwuasor at a second-round level, which will put his 2019 salary cap hit at $3.095 million, according to Over The Cap’s calculations.

Onwuasor was a major part of what Baltimore did defensively last season. His presence is even more important now as the Ravens have not re-signed linebacker C.J. Mosley yet, potentially seeing him leave in free agency. If that’s the case, Onwuasor would likely be the next man up.

Onwuasor is the latest in Baltimore’s string of undrafted players to make a major impact with the team. Over the last two seasons, Onwuasor has started 25 games for 147 combined tackles, 6.5 sacks, an interception and three forced fumbles.

By giving Onwuasor a second-round tender, the Ravens will have the chance to match any offer sheets other teams give him or collect a second-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft by letting him go. That should ensure Onwuasor stays in Baltimore for at least the next season.
