Ravens G Ben Powers: ‘I love taking a grown man’s dreams and crushing them’

The Baltimore Ravens are looking for the next Marshal Yanda. Heading into Day 3 of the 2019 NFL draft, Baltimore needed to grab at least one offensive lineman to help at either center or left guard. They got Oklahoma guard Ben Powers in the fourth round and he sounds an awful lot like he has the Ravens’ mentality.

In a video, Powers talked about his mentality and motivations. It got pretty serious . . .

Powers stared right into the camera and it feels like he’s locking eyes and talking to you personally.

“A lot of people ask me what motivates me. What motivates me is I love taking a grown man’s dreams and crushing them.”

That’s no joke right there.

If Powers can back up that talk with his play, he’ll have the same nasty attitude on the field as Yanda. Though Yanda signed a one-year contract extension this offseason, Powers could end up being his heir apparent at right guard.
