Ravens draft trade: Should the Ravens trade into 2nd round?

The Baltimore Ravens selected wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft. The Ravens already made one trade, going from No. 22 to No. 25 with the Philadelphia Eagles while picking up an extra fourth and sixth-round pick for the move.

But with no second-round picks still, the questions remains if the Ravens should try to trade up to take advantage of the wealth of talent there. More importantly, do the Ravens have the draft capital to make such a move?

There are plenty of talented prospects who dropped out of the first round. That alone could tempt Baltimore general manager Eric DeCosta if guys like  A.J. Brown, D.K. Metcalf, Greedy Williams and Erik McCoy continue to fall. There’s also the notion that it could be difficult to have 10 draft picks make the final 53-man roster.

But the trade value chart points to a move being unlikely. Even the last pick in the second round — New England’s No. 64 overall selection — has a value of 270 points. Combined, Baltimore’s two third-round picks come in at just 257 points on the trade value chart, falling short by 13.

That means if the Ravens want to get back into the second round, it’ll likely cost them a whole host of picks in this draft to make it happen. Baltimore could look to trade future selections to make a move but that’s something the Ravens have usually stayed away from in the past.

It would take a really special player falling for Baltimore to give up that much draft equity. While that’s not to say it won’t happen, DeCosta himself seems to understand it’s pretty unlikely
