Ravens cut wide receiver who threw a football into a pond after fighting his teammate

It’s been a rough couple days for Jordan Lasley.

The second-year wide receiver from UCLA was released on Wednesday — just two days after he fought with teammate Cyrus Jones and threw a football into a pond. Yes, that really happened.

According to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, Lasley took exception to Jones’ high shot during press coverage. He responded by punching Jones and had to be separated by teammate Bennett Jackson who tackled Lasley to stop the fight.

But that wasn’t all: Lasley caught a touchdown pass on his next rep, and he somehow responded to that moment by throwing the football into a nearby pond. That did not go over well with the Ravens staff.

Come Wednesday, Lasley was no longer a member of the team. But head coach John Harbaugh said that the decision to move on from Lasley had nothing to do with Monday’s fight (and the throw into a pond).

Lasley was a fifth-round pick in 2018, but he did not record any statistics last season.
