After making a big trade just days before the draft, the Baltimore Ravens now have a plethora of great options in terms of moving around the 2021 draft board. Holding both No. 27 and No. 31 in the first round, they could certainly opt to stay put and draft two players who fall to them at each spot. However, it wouldn’t be a shock if the team decides to be aggressive, and at the same time smart about how they leverage their draft capital.
There have been rumblings that Baltimore is looking to move up in the 20s, potentially turning their late 20s pick into an early 20s selection. If they were to do that, they would most likely have to surrender a few draft assets in the process. If the Ravens like a player enough to the point where they don’t want to risk another team sniping him, they could opt to do whatever it takes to move up and take that prospect.
Giving up a few mid-round picks to move up even further into the 20s would be a sound strategy, especially with the other first round pick that the organization currently has at their disposal. Baltimore has been said to have been fielding calls about their second first-round selection, and in the event that they do end up trading back from that spot, they would most likely recoup some, if not all, of the capital that they gave away from moving up with No. 27.
For the Ravens, the possibilities are endless as to how Day 1 of the draft will turn out. The board can fall in any which way, so while there’s a lot of uncertainty as to who will be selected by the team in Round 1, Baltimore will look to stay true to their draft board, and do what they can to get the players that they want while also doing what’s best for the organization.
