Ravens break a franchise record in the first half vs. Dolphins

The Baltimore Ravens scored six touchdowns (four passing, two rushing) in the first half against the Miami Dolphins. Quarterback Lamar Jackson has been slicing and dicing Miami’s defense all over the field. Baltimore running back Mark Ingram is doing his part in the running game with nine carries for 77 yards and two touchdowns to go with it.

All those numbers add up to having the highest-scoring first half in franchise history as the Ravens lead the Dolphins 42-10.

One could argue that due to the fact Miami is in rebuilding mode and they were projected to be among the worst teams in the NFL this season, you could scoff at the numbers. But you’d be making a bad choice by doing so.

The reality of the situation is that Baltimore’s offense has made great strides over the offseason. This unit has improved greatly since their playoff performance in January against the Los Angeles Chargers, thanks to the addition of talent in the draft and free agency, as well as the change to offensive coordinator Greg Roman. Jackson has shown huge strides in his accuracy, hitting on short, intermediate and deep throws regularly. At halftime, Jackson was 10-of-11 with four touchdown passes.

Wide receiver Marquise Brown has looked as explosive as billed. The offensive line is giving Jackson plenty of time to throw the ball and all three running backs huge holes. Everyone is executing and clearly, this is a dangerous offense when things go right.

On defense, we already know what the Ravens bring to the table. That defense has been relentless, other than their last drive when they allowed the Dolphins to score a touchdown.

Overall, Baltimore looks really good and they are putting the rest of the league on notice.
