Ravens add CB Terrell Bonds, RB Mark Thompson to practice squad

The NFL never rests and rosters are never set. The Baltimore Ravens proved this on Tuesday when they made changes to their practice squad. Per the transactions list, Baltimore added cornerback Terrell Bonds and running back Mark Thompson to the practice squad. To free up some room, the Ravens waived linebacker Donald Payne and wide receiver Sean Modster.

Bonds had an impressive showing at OTAs, including intercepting quarterback Lamar Jackson twice in one practice. But with the experienced depth at cornerback, Bonds faced the near-impossible task of making the 53-man roster. With very few flashes throughout the preseason, Bonds was among those players cut as Baltimore trimmed down to their 53-man roster.

Thompson returns to the Ravens after having been on their practice squad last year. He had been signed to the Detroit Lions’ practice squad back in January but was released on Sept. 4. With De’Lance Turner already on the practice squad, Thompson’s addition has added interest. It could mean Turner is a little banged up right now and Thompson is added security in case of injury to one of Baltimore’s three running backs on the 53-man roster.
