As the Baltimore Ravens get further away from the COVID-19 outbreak they had two weeks ago, they’re getting the bulk of their roster back. The Ravens got yet another starter back Thursday, activating wide receiver Willie Snead from the Reserve/COVID-19 list, per the team’s Twitter account.
Snead had been a major part of Baltimore’s passing attack this season, in part because of the lack of production elsewhere. Through 10 games this season, Snead has caught 38 passes for 379 yards, and three touchdowns. However, the bulk of Snead’s stats have come over the last four games he played in as quarterback Lamar Jackson has looked his way on crucial down-and-distance situations. Snead kicked off his increase in production in Week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, catching five passes for 106 yards.
Over the last two weeks with both Snead and tight end Mark Andrews on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, the Ravens’ passing offense has looked even worse. Against the Steelers and Dallas Cowboys in weeks 12 and 13 Baltimore quarterbacks — Robert Griffin III started against Pittsburgh while Jackson returned against Dallas — have combined to go 21-of-35 for 217 yards, two touchdown passes, and two interceptions (including a pick-six).
Snead’s return should dramatically help the Ravens’ offense. And with just four games remaining and Baltimore likely needing to win out to secure a playoff berth, Snead’s return comes at the right time.
