June 10--"The View" is officially so Raven.
Actress Raven-Symon頨as been made a full-time co-host on ABC's daytime talk show after being a frequent fill-in since the departure or Rosie O'Donnell in February. Simon駳 hiring was announced at the start of Wednesday's broadcast.
Symon鬠who is 29, joins Whoopi Goldberg, Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez on the program, which has averaged around 2.8 million viewers in the current TV season.
The audience is very familiar with Simon頴hanks to her TV comedy roles. She was a breakout addition to the cast of "The Cosby Show" in the later years of its run and was the star of her own hit series on The Disney Channel, "That's So Raven," from 2003 to 2007.
"The View" -- created by the network's news legend Barbara Walters in 1997 -- is attempting to re-establish its ratings supremacy and cultural relevance after major turnover at its roundtable and competition from shows such as CBS' "The Talk" and the syndicated "The Real," which adapted its panel format. "The Talk" has pulled ahead of "The View" in women aged 18 to 49, the audience advertisers seek the most.
ABC News took over "The View" at the start of the current season and is planning a full relaunch of the program in the fall of 2015.
