Ravel Morrison slams former Liverpool star Glen Johnson for damning comments on Saido Berahino

Former Liverpool player Glen Johnson has been slammed by Sheffield United striker Ravel Morrison over comments he made about Saido Berahino.

Berahino, who played with Johnson at Stoke City between 2017 and 2018, was released by the Potters on Wednesday.

The Burundi international was signed by Stoke in January 2017 in a £12million-deal with West Bromwich Albion .

The frontman made just 56 appearances at the bet365 Stadium, hadn't featured for the club since February and was let go by way of "mutual agreement" this week with three years left on his original five-and-a-half-year deal.

Former Reds defender Johnson went on to talkSPORT to lift the lid on Berahino's antics at Stoke - labelling him as one of the worst professionals he had ever worked with.

"If you paid me to take him, I still wouldn’t take him," he told talkSPORT.

"I would run a mile in the opposite direction.

"Saido always wanted to go against the grain. If we were told to turn up ten, he’d deliberately come at ten past ten.

"I remember this one game, all the players that were on the bench but didn’t get on would have to run after the match. Nobody liked it, because you were probably peed off that you didn’t play, but those were the rules.

"After the match, the players were out running but Saido was only jogging. The next day, they made all the players come in because of it. Even those that had played, all because of this.

"Saido rang in sick. So, we were all there because of him and he didn’t even show up. We were all fuming, as you can imagine."

Now, Blades attacker Morrison has hit back at Johnson over his comments on Twitter.

The Englishman played with Berahino for England U18s and U21s between 2011 and 2014.

Morrison wrote: "@glen_johnson trying to destroy people’s careers .

"How can you speak about people like that in public.

"@SBerahino good luck at your new team. I hope you work hard get back to your best and get back we’re you belong. God bless."
