Ravel Morrison has two words to describe Manchester United prospect Angel Gomes

Ravel Morrison has described Angel Gomes as a 'wizard' and a 'magician' as the Manchester United academy player celebrates his birthday.

The youngster turned 19 on Saturday after scoring for United's under-23s in their 2-2 draw with West Ham at Old Trafford on Friday night.

And he awoke to birthday messages from a number of his teammates as well as one from from former United player Morrison.

"Happy brother brother, wizard/magician," Morrison wrote alongside a picture of Gomes on his Instagram story.

The message comes after Gomes acknowledged Morrison's man-of-the-match display on his full debut for Sheffield United in midweek.

Gomes also received birthday messages from James Garner, Tahith Chong and Largie Ramazani.

Gomes, who is yet to feature for United's first team this season, limped off injured in the closing stages of the under-23s' game on Friday night having opened the scoring in superb style.

The teenager rounded off a storming run from midway inside the opposition half with a thumping finish from the edge of the area.

Many supporters had expected Gomes to travel to Southampton with the first-team squad on Friday so his inclusion for Neil Wood's side came as something of a surprise.

Gomes was included in United's provisional squads for their opening three league games of the season against Chelsea, Wolves and Crystal Palace.
