Rave on Avon announces new location for 2020 day festival

A new home has been announced for one of Bristol's most popular day festivals.

Rave on Avon has taken place in Stokes Croft for the past 11 years, bringing a host of the best DJs around to the area's many bars and live music venues.

But before this year's festival the team behind it announced it would take place in its established home for the final time.

They said the decision was down to the ever-changing nature of Stokes Croft, including the threat of closure to Blue Mountain and Lakota.

The good news was they said the festival would take place in a new location in 2020, rather than calling it a day altogether, and today (December 5) they have announced where that is.

Rave on Avon's new home

Rave on Avon will take place on May 16, 2020 in Old Market, bringing 16 hours of music to the area.

Festival director Ruth Wiles said: "The historic centre of Bristol, Old Market has recently seen a massive revival with several great venues opening up to add to the amazing institutions already in the area.

"The Rave On Avon team have been overwhelmed by the response from local venues and can’t wait to get stuck in, bringing the party to kick start the festival season."

Organisers of the event are keeping details of the specific venues which will be used under wraps for now.

Some of the music venues in Old Market include Exchange, The Old Market Assembly and Trinity Centre.

It is also home to a number of decent pubs and bars such as the Old Market Tavern, Elmer's Arms, The Punchbowl, The Stag and Hounds and Brisco, which could be involved in the event too.

Tickets

A spokesperson said ticket prices will be kept as low as possible to ensure the event is as accessible to as many people as possible.

Details of the event will be revealed on Rave on Avon's Facebook page from tomorrow (December 6).

Early bird tickets will also be going on sale tomorrow on Headfirst. The event is for over 18s only.
