'Rave gurner guy' found out he had gone viral after boss showed him video

A clubber dubbed 'rave gurner guy' who was filmed partying said he didn't know he'd gone viral until his boss showed him the clip.

Shaun Jackson was filmed enjoying himself a little too much at a club night in Preston back in 2014, LancsLive reports. The clip showed him dancing at the Bounce By The Ounce event hosted at Rumes bar.

Shaun, from Chorley, said he had no idea that the video had blown up on social media until he went to work the following week. Appearing on an episode of Flexxed TV's Podcast , Shaun told hosts Mikey Davies and VJ Brand that he walked back into work one Monday morning after the now famous heavy weekend to be confronted by Danny, his boss but also his 'mate'.

He said: "He [Danny] come to me and he said, 'Oh my god you had a good night Saturday night didn't you?' and I said "oh my god how do you know" and he showed me the video."

Luckily, Shaun says Danny 'weren't bothered at all' by his on-camera antics, saying 'he can do what he likes on the weekend'. By Monday morning, just two days after the club night, the video had been seen more than 300,000 people according to Shaun.

"By Wednesday night, it had 2.5 million or something and then it just kept carrying on," Shaun explained. The four-second clip of Shaun, which was recorded as part of a promo video for a nightclub in 2014, was reportedly sold by the cameraman for £10,000 to a film company, but Shaun says he 'didn't see a penny' of the profits.

Shaun says even now, he still gets recognised from the clip, with people coming up to him regularly asking for selfies. In November a toy based on Shaun was made and put on sale by Joe Shark Sandwich Toys online.

The model was being sold for £40, including postage, and owners had the chance to 'own their very own piece of gurning history'. A spokesperson for Joe Shark Sandwich Toys said: "The Gurner Raver Raindance Edition for sale. £40 posted within the UK. Inbox me get one now! We've all seen the gurner raver video but now have the chance to own your very own piece of gurning history with the limited run of Rave Icons issue #1.

"Also, the man himself will be attending Raindance winter series party at Fetch Norwich on the 2nd December where the figures will be sold at a cut price and you'll have a chance to meet the gurning raver and have you toy signed."
