Ravalawa faces third shoulder charge ban

Dragons winger Mikaele Ravalawa faces a lengthy ban for a third shoulder charge in his last 5 games. (AAP)

St George Illawarra winger Mikaele Ravalawa is facing a third NRL suspension for a shoulder charge in the space of just five match appearances.

Ravalawa has been handed a grade-one charge for his hit on Elliottt Whitehead during his team's narrow win over Canberra on Saturday night.

While he would normally be able to escape with a one-game ban for the offence, he is looking at a minimum of three matches on the sideline with an early guilty plea due to repeat offending.

If he contests the charge at the judiciary and loses, the suspension will go to four weeks and mean he can't return until round 21.

Ravalawa copped a two-game ban for shoulder charging Sydney Roosters opponent Josh Morris in round seven on Anzac Day.

On his return at Magic Round he clocked Melbourne centre Justin OIam with a shoulder charge, picking up another two-week ban.

He then came back in round 13, only to land another charge on Saturday night.

Melbourne forward Nelson Asofa-Solomona's poor record has also come back to hurt him, as he is set to miss two games for collecting Joe Ofahenguae in a high tackle.

While he would normally be able to accept a fine for his grade-one charge, his ban will be two matches even with an early plea due to his past form.
