Raul Sanllehi has suggested Arsenal won't be splashing the cash in January - but has hinted at funds being available in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal's head of football Sanllehi released a statement on the club's January plans on Friday after Mikel Arteta was confirmed as the club's new manager on a three-and-a-half year deal.
The Gunners are floundering down in tenth in the Premier League this season, and Arteta is under pressure to turn things around as soon as he's behind his new desk in north London.
But the Spaniard, who has spent the past three seasons working under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, will have to do so with the players at his disposel.
Sanllehi, discussing the Arsenal's January plans, told the club's official website: "Globally, it's not the strategic window. By definition, that's the summer window.
"That's when you plan the season ahead. Last summer we did an incredible effort where we were very grateful for the support we got from our ownership to really go one step further and make, as I said, a real investment to increase our expectations for the season.
"The winter window is much more tactical.
"Now we're going to have conversations between Edu and Mikel to see what things we can do or what we should do.
"But again, the strategical window and the one that Edu and his team are always working for in the longer term is the summer window."
