Raul Sanllehi reveals the key reason for signing Dani Ceballos - and Arsenal fans will love it

Raul Sanllehi has revealed that the research Dani Ceballos had carried out on Arsenal was the key to convincing him to completing the signing.

The 22-year-old joined the Gunners on a one-year loan deal from Real Madrid - a deal which has certainly got the fans excited.

Ceballos was the second signing of the summer for Arsenal, with William Saliba joining the list just a few hours later after joining from Saint Etienne.

However it's the deal for the midfielder which has left supporters feeling excited, and even optimistic for the upcoming campaign.

Sanllehi was speaking at Arsenal's annual Q&A session at the Emirates Stadium when he explained how he was able to get such an exciting talent through the door.

He said: “We’re very pleased and proud to get Ceballos done, many top clubs in Europe wanted this player.

We like the player because of the position he plays and the way he comes out with the ball.

“Cabellos is one of the top young players in Europe.

He is a Real Madrid player and I say that with pain, because when I was at Barca I tried to sign him. He wasn’t getting enough game time with Zidane, but we have a good relationship with the club and I knew the player, so we saw this as a win-win for us and Real Madrid.

“He is fanatical about football. I can tell you that for the last two weeks he has been studying Arsenal and every player and this was part of why we brought him in. He is a loan player but he has a big commitment.”
