Raul Jimenez 'on way to Man Utd' as Wolves line up Paulinho transfer to replace him

Raul Jimenez is reportedly on his way to Manchester United, with Wolves on the verge of signing Portuguese centre forward Paulinho as a replacement.

Jimenez has put himself firmly on the radar of top Premier League clubs in this summer's transfer window, with 26 goals in all competitions for Wolves during the season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has previously spoken of United's need to sign a top-class striker, and Mexico star Jimenez would fit the bill.

And now the 29-year-old is heading for Old Trafford as Wolves have all but agreed a deal to sign his successor, according to RTP.

The Portuguese outlet claims Jimenez is "on his way" to United, reporting that Nuno Espirito Santo's side are set to sign Paulinho from Sporting de Braga for €30million (£27m).

Paulinho scored 25 goals in all competitions for Sporting during the 2019/20 season, as well as laying on nine assists.

So he would appear to have the goalscoring pedigree to replace Jimenez, who was Wolves' top scorer as they finished seventh in the Premier League.

Jimenez, who has also been linked with Arsenal this summer, said last month it was "incredible" to be a potential summer transfer target for a host of top clubs.

“'It is something very cool," said the striker. “Different teams like  Real MadridBarcelona, JuventusManchester City, Manchester UnitedLiverpool - they are teams that are important in football history.

“It is an incredible thing to be on the radar and on the lips of those teams.

“They are rumours but it is something good for me to continue growing, making an effort and taking it as an incentive so that, if possible, I can achieve it.”

United youngster Mason Greenwood has been in form since football's restart, forging an impressive front three with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

But signing 29-year-old Jimenez would reduce the goalscoring burden on Greenwood - who is still only 18 and in his breakthrough season with the Red Devils.
