Raul Jimenez addresses future amid Manchester United transfer speculation

Raul Jimenez insists he is settled at Wolves and his future won't depend on Champions League qualification, amid speculation he could join Manchester United or Arsenal.

The Mexican forward has been in excellent form this season, netting 13 goals and laying on six assists to prompt reports that he may seal a big transfer elsewhere.

MEN Sport understands United want to sign a forward this summer, though it is also the MEN's understanding that Jimenez is not currently under consideration. He has been linked with a move to Old Trafford along with the likes of RB Leipzig's Timo Werner and Lyon striker Moussa Dembele. United may seek a permanent deal for current loan forward Odion Ighalo.

But Jimenez, speaking to fans during a Facebook Live session, played down the possibility of him leaving Wolves in the next transfer window and says he's committed to Nuno Espirito Santo's outfit.

"I have a contract until 2023," said the 28-year-old.

"It's not that we have to qualify for the Champions League in order to stay. I'm good [here], happy with Wolves, doing important things - me as well as the whole team.

"We've been trying our best since the start of last season. We've qualified for the Europa League, now we're fighting for a Champions League spot.

"And it's the big motivation to keep growing as a player and getting into the Champions League is always a plus that satisfies you and keeps you thinking about big things."

Jimenez was also asked where he will be in 10 years and admitted he could return to Mexico or the USA one day. Whether that's directly from Wolves or via another big Premier League club remains to be seen.

“In 10 years I will be 39 so, I don’t know, I may be retire," he said. "I hope to last as long as I can.

“I have been a player with few injuries and I hope to continue for many more years.

“I then want to be a coach or take a position on TV, but I will continue in football.

“I am having a good time in Europe for now but in the future I don’t rule out going back to America.”
