'Rattled' Rishi Sunak interview leaves Martin Lewis viewers all saying the same thing

Financial journalist Martin Lewis gave Chancellor Rishi Sunak a grilling on last night's episode of The Martin Lewis Money Show Live.

But viewers were left saying the same thing as Sunak answered questions about the rising cost of living.

This came as a response to the energy price cap - although Martin reiterates that there is no limit as to what companies can charge - and the support that was announced by Sunak that evening.

The price cap, set by energy regulator Ofgem, is rising to 54 percent on April 1, which will be an extra £693 to the average household bill.

On top of that, National Insurance is rising 1.25 percentage points, resulting in a 10 percent increase in deductions from the average wages.

At 5pm yesterday, February 3, the Chancellor confirmed that the government is offering a £200 loan for households to help them cope with the rising bills but that will need to be paid back in £40 instalments over five years.

In England, £150 will also be deducted off council tax for bands in A-D. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are to set their own decision and rate on that matter.

The consumer champion kicked off the interview with the question he was asked the most.

"Why the hell aren't you giving us more?", Martin fired at Sunak.

The Chancellor replied: "I totally appreciate that people are anxious about this and there is a lot happening at once.

"That's why we have taken the actions that we have today, which I think will make a significant difference.

"£350 is a significant sum of money that will help people."

While Martin questioned the Government's approach, viewers took to Twitter after noticing just how 'on edge' the Chancellor looked.

They took to Twitter to insist Martin had him rattled.

One penned: "Does Rishi Sunak not know how to sit on a sofa properly or is Martin Lewis just the alpha? #OnTheEdge."

Su commented: "Watching Rishi and Martin Lewis precariously balance in the smallest sofa trying to discuss fuel costs - I actually thing Rishi is sat on air."

"Watching Martin Lewis Live and I have one question...how is Rishi Sunak sitting down? He seems to be floating!", Yas echoed.

Debra Prudhoe said: "#martinlewis Rishi is ready to sprint off that sofa Martin he is looking very uncomfortable you have rattled him."

Emily Summers agreed: "Rishi literally can't get further away from Martin on that sofa, he'll fall off in a minute #MartinLewis."

Tracy Howard wrote: "I hope Rishi falls off that sofa. He’s on the edge #MartinLewis."
