Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana are shifting their focus to the Australian Open after winning the men's doubles title at the EA Hua Hin Open Challenger yesterday.
The third seeded twins defeated American pair of Austin Krajicek and Jackson Withrow 6-4, 5-7, 10-5 in the title match at True Arena Hua Hin yesterday.
It was their fifth title of the year on the ATP Challenger Tour and 60th overall (two ATP Tour titles, 46 Challenger Tour titles and 12 Future Tour titles).
Sonchat and Sanchai will now head to China to play in the Asia-Pacific wildcard play-offs for the season's first Grand Slam. A victory there will guarantee a spot in the main draw in Melbourne.
"It will be a tough competition but we will do our best to post good results," said the twins.
Just like their previous match, Sonchat and Sanchai got the early break in the opening set, this time in the very first game and that was enough for the brothers to take the set 6-4.
Krajicek and Withrow, seeded fourth for the event, picked up their game in the second set and the US duo got the crucial break in the 12th game to level the match.
The twins bounced back to win the super tie-break 10-5 and claimed their 60th career title together with the US$9,300 (approximately 304,000 baht) winner's cheque. Krajicek and Whitrow received $5,400 (176,000 baht).
"Overall we played well today. We made some mistakes late in the second set because Austin and Jackson returned much better and they also served well," added the Thai twins.
In the men's singles final, eighth seed John Millman defeated fellow Aussie Andrew Whittington 6-2, 6-2.
