Ratho dad-of-two given two years to live as back pain is diagnosed as killer cancer

A young dad-of-two from Ratho, Edinburgh, has been given devastating news after visiting the doctor to complain of simple back pain.

34-year-old Craig Bailey has been given only two years to live after medics and the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh discovered a tumour in his lungs in early August.

Craig, dad to Jason, 4 and Caleb, 2, was left shocked after investigations showed the tumours had spread aggressively throughout his body to his liver, kidneys, stomach, spine, adrenal system and lymphatic system.

Craig experienced no symptoms other than seemingly innocent back and shoulder pain that he initially put down to needing to buy a new mattress.

Craig is racing to make as many memories as possible with his children, with family friend Lynda Rogers launching a fundraising bid for young family.

Lynda wrote: "A truly devastating story of a young family who's lives have been torn apart.

"Craig has a beautiful young family, a father of two beautiful baby boys who have no understanding of what the future holds.

"Craig is remaining positive and strong with his situation. He is not looking for sympathy and doesn't want people crying around him, instead he wants to make as many memories with his family as he can.

"They all know there are darker times ahead. They are not focusing on them but on Craig's priority of making every day his best day."

Lynda said that, understandably, the family were financially underprepared for such devastating news, and she desperately does not want them to be concerned about money.

"A heartfelt thank you."
