Firefighters have contained four fires at Toronto after the initial ignition on Sunday afternoon raised the alarm about 12.45pm.
NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) crews were assisted by NSW Fire and Rescue firefighters to get control of a bushfire that had broken out and was spreading around the Toronto golf course on Wangi Road at Rathmines.
The initial fire had spread and ignited three other fires in the area, a spokesman for the state's brigade said, prompting the RFS-led effort to extinguish it.
The fireground of about 200-square-metres spread over two nearby areas was brought to heel about 2pm, the spokesman said, with more than a dozed brigade members remaining on the scene to black out embers while RFS crews inspected and made-safe the area.
The fire was burning in scrubland off the road, an RFS spokeswoman said, confirming traffic was unaffected.
Four units in total responded with estimates of around 14 firefighters working at the scene.
