South Dublin County Council have warned residents against using bogus waste collection companies.
The warning comes as there have been reports of illegal collections that will be taking place Glenmore Court, Rathfarnham on Thursday between 9am and 12pm.
Locals have been advised not to use these companies as the waste is likely to be dumped in nearby lanes and may be set on fire.
A council spokesperson said: “SDCC has had reports of an illegal waste collection taking place in the Glenmore Court, Rathfarnham area on Thursday November 14, 2019, between 9am and 12pm.
“Do not give your waste to this collector, as the unwanted waste collected is likely to be dumped in nearby lanes.”
A spokesperson for the Dublin Fire Brigade has warned that rubbish collected during these collections may be dumped and set slight resulting in damage to the surrounding area.
They said: “Rubbish collected during these illegal collections are usually dumped and may be set alight causing damage to the area around it.
“Report any leaflet drops like this to your local council.”
