Ratched fans can stay in the exact same motel where Mildred lives in the show

Ratched fans can book a stay at the exact same motel where Mildred Ratched lives in the new Netflix series.

The show stars Sarah Paulson as the iconic nurse, providing an origin story for what leads her to become the cruel nurse we know from 1975 hit film One Flew Over a Cuckoo's Nest.

In the new series, Mildred stays at The Sealight Inn, a cosy motel which becomes her home and offers up some seriously beautiful ocean views.

The good news for fans is that the motel isn't a mixture of a set and green screen - it's a real-life motel. Oh and yes, it does boast a cliffside location with those sweeping ocean views.

The Sealight Inn is actually the Lucia Lodge, located on the Big Sur highway in California. (We're loving the apt name, considering Mildred works at the Lucia State Hospital).

The Lucia Lodge is a family-run motel offering 10 cabins and rooms, all of which boast a rustic-chic feel. (None of the rooms have televisions or telephones).

The motel played the role of The Sealight Inn in Netflix's Ratched (Netflix)

It's no wonder that the motel caught the crew's attention, considering its cliffside location, spectacular surroundings and isolated location.

Most of the rooms overlook the Pacific Ocean, but even the land-facing rooms offer up dramatic landscape views thanks to the surrounding Santa Lucia Mountains.

Fans of the hit show who do want to check it out are also in luck, as a lot of Ratched's filming locations were in California, so there's ample opportunity to go exploring.

Considering a trip to see it all for yourself?

Room rates vary depending on your choice of accommodation, but prices tend to start from $225 a night (approx £175), and can range up to $450 a night (approx £350). You can find out more on the Lucia Lodge website.
