Ratchanok, Tai in Group A

World No.6 Ratchanok Intanon has been drawn to face top-ranked Tai Tzu-ying in the first round of this week's BWF Superseries Finals.

The other two players in Group B are No.5 Sung Ji-Hyun of South Korea and No.8 Chen Yufei of China.

Ratchanok and Tai have a 9-9 career record with the Taiwanese winning three matches and the Thai two in their meetings this year.

No.2 Akane Yamaguchi of Japan is the highest-ranked player in Group A, which also features No.3 PV Sindhu of India and No.9 He Bingjiao of China.

World champion Nozomi Okuhara of Japan and Olympic gold medallist Carolina Marin have withdrawn from the event.

The top two players of each group reach the semi-finals of the season-ending tournament, which begins tomorrow in Dubai.

In the men's singles, South Korea' Son Wan-Ho, Malaysia's Lee Chong Wei, Hong Kong's Ng Ka Long and Olympic champion Chen Long from China.

In Group B are India's Srikanth Kidambi, China's Shi Yuqi, Taiwan's Chou Tien-chen and Denmark's Viktor Axelsen.
