GUANGZHOU: Ratchanok Intanon’s run at the badminton World Tour Finals ended on Saturday with a straight-sets defeat in the women's semi-final at the hands of Indian star PV Sindhu.

Sindhu, the silver medallist at the Rio Olympics, will face Nozomi Okuhara in the final on Sunday at the Tianhe Gymnasium in Guangzhou.

The sixth-ranked Indian has been in imperious form all week, but she needed all her resolve to finally see off world No.8 Ratchanok 21-16, 25-23 in a captivating semi-final that lasted 54 minutes.

In the other last-four clash on Saturday, Okuhara, a place above Sindhu in the world rankings, emerged from an all-Japanese clash against Akane Yamaguchi.

Okuhara defeated her compatriot, who is ranked second in the world, 21-17, 21-14.
