Rat crawls INSIDE chicken at food stall as meals are served to unaware customers

Disgusting footage of a live rat crawling inside an uncooked chicken at a food stall has emerged.

The video was recorded outside a coffee shop which has a rice and chicken stall attached in the residential town of Toa Payoh, in the Central Region of Singapore.

In the video, which has been posted on social media, a rat can be seen moving inside the cavity of a raw chicken in a plastic bag stuffed with poultry.

The person recording then kicks the basket the bag is in and the rat can be seen scurrying over the chicken as it tries to run away.

Local media report the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has confirmed they are investigating the incident to ensure food hygiene standards are being met at the stall.

The SFA spokesman said the agency would take action if lapses in food hygiene standards are found.

Reports state the operator of the food stall, named as Ah De, 34, also owns the coffee station where it is located.

De told reporters he had asked his chicken supplier to provide him with extra baskets so he put the raw chicken on top of them and keep it off the ground.

He said he is discussing the matter with his unnamed supplier.

After the authorities inspected his stall he closed for the day and De says he is planning to change his supplier and will ask his current supplier for a refund as the chicken he bought off them went unsold.

The investigation is ongoing.
