Rasmus Hojlund's trainer drops transfer hint amid Manchester United talks

Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund's pre-season trainer has hinted the Danish star could be set for a new challenge amid conversations with Manchester United.

On Friday, MEN Sport reported United's football director John Murtough had undertaken extensive talks with Hojlund about moving to Old Trafford. That comes after Erik ten Hag conducted several video calls with the 20-year-old expressing his intention to sign him.

United had initially identified Tottenham's Harry Kane but there is a growing realisation that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is unwilling to sell his talisman. Alternatives are being explored, including Hojlund who last season managed 10 goals in 34 appearances for Atalanta and is seen as one of Europe's rising stars.

As with many top level athletes, the 20-year-old has hired a personal trainer to keep his fitness levels at their peak. Taking to Instagram, EnergeticX Copenhagen shared a short clip of the Denmark international completing running drills.

However, the video's caption suggested the striker may be on the move, saying 'We ready for what's next Rasmus Hojlund,' accompanied with a 'shush emoji'.

While this may be in reference to the next drill Hojlund was going to be put through, it is coincidentally vague considering the reports regarding the Dane. Moving to Old Trafford would be a lifelong dream for Hojlund, who is a United supporter.

"Now that you ask, I will not hide the fact that I am a huge Manchester United fan," he said earlier this year. "So personally, it would be one of the biggest things for me [to sign for United], but of course that doesn’t mean that I would turn down other big clubs if the offers come at some point."
