Rashford, Garnacho, Varane, Sabitzer - Manchester United injury news and return dates

On-loan midfielder Marcel Sabitzer has added to the injury concerns at Manchester United after picking up a knee problem while on international duty.

With initial concerns over six players ahead of the impending Premier League resumption against Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon (4.30pm), Sabitzer and his issue now makes that seven. He is touch and go to feature for his country when they get down to business against Estonia on Monday night.

Marcus Rashford was previously forced to withdraw from the England squad, meanwhile, as Erik ten Hag has to accommodate setbacks for Raphael Varane, Alejandro Garnacho and others. Here is our round-up from the treatment table;

Christian Eriksen

Injury: Ankle

Return date: TBC

What Ten Hag has said: "I think he [Eriksen] will play [again this season]. Definitely. I think his progress and rehab is okay. It's going according to plan, so definitely we will see him. His main focus is, at this moment, to get back as soon as possible because we need all the players."

Alejandro Garnacho

Injury: Ankle

Return date: TBC

What Ten Hag has said: "It will take weeks. He will be back before the end of the season. We can win a lot, so he has to be ready."

Anthony Martial

Injury: Groin/Hip

Possible return date: TBC

What Ten Hag has said: "He's on his way back. He's back in training, but we will be cautious."

Marcus Rashford

Injury: Knock

Return date: April 2 vs Newcastle

England manager Gareth Southgate said: "Well, the feeling was he is playing really well, but we haven't often had him. We were looking forward to seeing him."

Injury: Knee

Return date: April 2 vs Newcastle

Austria manager Ralf Rangnick said: "At the moment, I am assuming he'll play [vs Estonia]. It made more sense to leave them out [of the training session] again, just to give them one more day, but there are other candidates. It's also a question of whether Marcel feels ready for it himself."

Donny van de Beek

Injury: Knee

Return date: Next season

What Ten Hag has said: "Of course, the bad news is that he is out for the rest of the season, but the good news is, in the longer-term, his knee will be okay and he will be ready again to play at the highest levels and will be ready for the start of pre-season."

Raphael Varane

Injury: Knock

Return date: April 2 vs Newcastle

What Ten Hag has said: "It's difficult to say, but I think it's something small. I think he'll recover and be back after the international break."
