Rasheem Green will be moved all around the defensive line

The Seattle Seahawks could potentially run out a defensive line featuring Jadeveon Clowney, Ezekiel Ansah and rookie L.J. Collier on Sunday against the Steelers – a formidable attack that looks radically different from the team’s unit last season.

With so many new faces, not to mention the strong performance of Quinton Jefferson in Week 1, it can be easy to forget about second-year defensive end Rasheem Green.

Green will have to battle for snaps on the upgraded defensive line, but coach Pete Carroll sees enough value in his versatility to keep him on the field.

“Well he’s playing both end spots and he’s playing inside on pass rush too,” Carroll said on Wednesday. “He can play anything for us right now. He played well, had two great rushes at the end of the game to finish it off.”

Green did see a lot of action in Week 1, playing 50 snaps on defense and five on the special teams. He finished with two combined tackles, including one sack, and one forced fumble on the final defensive play of the game for Seattle.

As long as he is continuing to make plays, he will find his way onto the field alongside Clowney, Ansah, Collier and Jefferson in what should be an impressive defensive edge for the Seahawks.
