Rashan Gary another Jersey guy who’d love to play for Giants

Michigan defensive lineman Rashan Gary, who grew up in New Jersey and was once considered the best High School football player in the nation, believes he’s carried that title throughout his college career and will now enter the 2019 NFL Draft as the best player available. Just ask him.

“I’m the best player in this draft, offensively or defensively,” Gary said Saturday. “Period.”

Gary was considered a top 10 prospect entering the NFL Combine and on Sunday, he’ll have an opportunity to cement that narrative with a strong performance.

“I’m able to do a lot of different things that a lot of linemen in this class can’t do,” Gary said. “When it comes to self-motivating, it’s my will to be great. I want to be great now. I want to be a Pro Bowler, I want to be a Hall of Famer, I want to be a Super Bowl champion. You are going to get that attitude right away.”

And where would Gary like to win that Super Bowl? How about with his hometown team, the New York Giants?

“I’m a Jersey kid, so being able to go back to play for the home team … and win games would mean a lot,” Gary said. “It would be a great thing.”

Gary, who met with the Giants on Saturday night, continued, saying that returning to his old stomping grounds wouldn’t be a reason for concern.

“Not a concern at all,” Gary said. “I’ve been wanting to play in the NFL since I was 10 years old. If I get the opportunity to do that, nothing is going to happen.”

If Gary is available at No. 6, the Giants will likely think long and hard about pulling that trigger and adding a freakish athlete to their defense.
