The rarest 10p, 50p and £2 coins have been revealed - and if you have one, you could be sat on a small fortune.

Before you spend your spare change, you may want to check it as some coins are worth much more than their face value - one particular 50p coin recently sold for £205.

The rarest coins have been revealed in the latest ChangeChecker scarcity index, which tracks the most sought after coins in circulation over the last three months.

The list is broken down into three categories: the rarest 50p coins, and A-Z of 10p coins and £2 coins currently in circulation.

Here is a full list of the coins you should keep an eye out for.

Rarest 50ps - worth up to £250

The Kew Gardens coin took the top spot once again for rarest 50p coins (PA)

Since the group's last update, the top circulating 50p coins have "stayed strong" with no movement.

This means the Kew Gardens 50p remains in the top place.

The coin features the famous Chinese Pagoda intertwined with a leafy climber to mark 250 years since Kew Gardens first opened in 1759.

Only 210,000 were ever released making them pretty hard to come by.

Experts at Coinhunter say the coin fetches an average of £156 on eBay - but they have sold for £250 or more previously.

The coin in second place for the rarest 50p is the Judo Olympics coin which features an image of two athletes mid-throw in a Judo tournament.

This was released in 2011 as part of a 29 piece collection to celebrate the Olympics in London in 2012.

According to Coinhunter, a circulated Judo coin in good condition is worth around £10 which is the current going rate for this coin.

Another Olympics coin, the Triathlon 50p has a swimmer, runner and cyclist in its design and the average selling price on eBay is around a tenner for this coin.

Finally, the Offside Football 50p takes fourth place with its offside rule diagram design. This coin was circulated in 2011 and had a circulating mintage of 1.1million

This coin is worth around £10 again and in our research, we found an eBay listing with a bid of £11.51.

Change Checker’s 10p list is made up of the alphabet A to Z collection, released in 2018 and 2019 to celebrate all things British.

Since the last release, ChangeChecker says the 10p list has changed significantly.

At the very top of the list, is the letter R 10p coin, which represents the "Robin" coin and features a wintery, snowflake background with a robin sitting inside the letter R.

In new condition, the R coin is around £12.50 which correlates with the bids we have seen in our research.

In second place is the Q coin which features a line of people queueing through the letter ‘Q’, to represent the very British obligation to queue.

Around 220,000 were issued in 2018 and 83,000 were issued in 2019 and at the moment these are worth around £3 - which is 30 times their actual worth.

In third place is the W coin or World Wide Web coin which features the letter W inside a spider’s web - 220,000 were issued for circulation in 2018 and 63,000 were issued for circulation in 2019.

The W coin is worth around £3.50 but the 2019 10p is a little bit rarer and worth around £7 according to our research.
