Rare photos show fox swimming in Trafalgar Square during rush hour

A fox was spotted taking a dip in Trafalgar Square's fountain as London’s rush hour whirled on around it.

The animal sheltered in a fountain near Nelson’s Column during rush hour on Monday, January 20.

It waded through the water under the early evening light, its head poked above the waterline.

The urban fox, distinct by its chestnut brown coat with a white fur stomach and jaw, also perched on the edge of the fountain and darted its eyes around the surroundings.

The capital is thought to be home to around 18 foxes per square kilometre.
