'Rare' - Neal Ardley's verdict on Notts County's summer transfer business

Neal Ardley says he is delighted by Notts County’s summer transfer business and now intends to build the team spirit as the Magpies look to get off to a flying start in the National League.

The Magpies have signed eight players across the summer and have made some eye-catching arrivals such as landing former Bradford midfielder Jake Reeves.

The club has also entered the European market to sign Portuguese attacker Ruben Rodrigues, Belgian forward Elisha Sam and Danish midfielder Casper Sloth.

Added to that have been goalkeeper Luke Pilling, defenders Adam Chicksen, Sam Graham and forward Jimmy Knowles.

Magpies boss Ardley was pleased to be in a position where Notts have finished their business in the transfer market well ahead of the National League opener at Dover on October 3.

“I am delighted,” he said.

“It’s so rare to get it done the way we have.

“But we spent lockdown trying to plan and get ready for it.

“Obviously we then had the play-offs so we had to get through that scenario.

“But a lot of the players we wanted to bring to the club, we have managed to do it.

“That’s a good sign. We’ll  build the team spirit from here and have a real good crack at the season.”
