Rare Manchester bee Nike Air Force 1s go on sale

Nike is about to drop a new design of its iconic Air Force 1 trainers - and this one's an homage to Manchester.

The sportswear giant has partnered with shoe shop Size and the We Love MCR charity on the new style, which has several nods to the city in its design.

The trainers, which will be sold through a raffle system, have been inspired by the worker bee that has acted as an emblem for Manchester since the industrial revolution.

Only 3,000 pairs will be created, with Size donating 10 per cent of sales straight to the charity.

Each trainer has been decorated with a bee motif, as well as embroidered with the 0161 area code.

The tongue of the shoes is patterned with a honeycomb mesh.

The Manchester Air Force 1s have been created with a premium leather and suede upper in tan and brown tones, and grey and white soles.

Funds raised from the sale of the shoes will go to We Love MCR Charity's 'Manchester's Rising Stars' Fund, which helps young Mancunians from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Councillor Tommy Judge, Lord Mayor of Manchester and chair of We Love MCR Charity, said: "This fantastic initiative unites Manchester's iconic worker bee with a world-class product.

"It is our greatest brand collaboration so far, by far!

"The funds we raise from every pair bought means we can support young Mancunians from disadvantaged backgrounds to fulfil their potential.

"Our Manchester's Rising Stars Fund awards grants to ambitious young people, to help them take their next steps to success in work, qualifications or entrepreneurship.

"With this help from Size and Nike, we can give a leg-up to even more talented young people looking to succeed in Manchester."

The Nike Air Force 1 Manchester exclusives will be sold through a raffle system, which goes live at 8am on Sunday November 15.

You can enter the raffle through the Size Launches app, with entries closing at 8am on Thursday November 19.

Successful raffle winners will then be able to purchase a limited-edition pair for £130.
