Edinson Cavani will stay put at Manchester United for the remainder of his contract — and supporters are delighted about that decision.
Speculation over the experienced Uruguayan had started to gather pace during the January transfer window amid suggestions that cash-strapped Spanish giants Barcelona might swoop for his services.
Ralf Rangnick told Manchester Evening News last month that he wanted Cavani to stay and, after direct talks with the 34-year-old, the interim manager has delivered positive news on that front for United fans.
Speaking about the discussion, Rangnick said: "Even if he's not playing, he will be trying to be the best possible role model for the other players and, for me, this is good news because Edi is one of those players, with his vast amount of experience, with his mentality, his work ethic, he could really be a perfect role model for the other players."
Cavani put pen to paper on a 12-month extension last summer in a deal that will take him through to July 2022.
Here are a selection of comments from United supporters about the Uruguay frontman;
