Rare footage from 1997 captures the premiere of Twin Town in Swansea

It's an iconic film of its time and holds cult status in Welsh cinema.

Twin Town launched the careers of actors Dougray Scott, and Rhys and Llyr Ifans, the latter playing the Lewis brothers in a potty-mouthed yarn involving drug-taking, car stealing and karaoke.

It was filmed at iconic sites across Swansea and Port Talbot, including the now defunct Baron’s nightclub, Bonymaen rugby club and Langland Bay.

And rare amazing footage captured by Tony 'Spealberg' Evans captures the excitement and buzz of the 1997 film on its launch night.

We get to see the stars of the film arrive on the red carpet, and there's a bit of nostalgia from the venue itself, as it was hosted in the old UCI cinema in Parc Tawe, which is now the home of Odeon.

The camera crews are out in force and you can spot many familiar faces from the film turning up on the red carpet, including central characters the Lewis brothers - or real life brothers Rhys and Llŷr Ifans arriving wearing matching black suits and black sunglasses.

And we also get a glimpse at some of the special guests of the evening including the lead singer of Stereophonics, Kelly Jones .

After the showing, there is an after party at legendary old nightclub Barons on College Street.

What is being referred to as a 'companion piece' to the film , entitled Tin Town, is in the works.

The film will be a comedy, but with a political spin, centering on the legalisation of cannabis.

Director Kevin Allen revealed that it would be set around the Llanelli area.

It is not the only brilliant old footage Mr Evans has shot of Swansea's history from the 1990s.

You can take a trip down memory lane and see what a day out was like at The Vetch Field , the former home of Swansea City before they moved to the Liberty Stadium, or get a glimpse into the city's rave scene in more of his amazing footage.
