Rare Celtic shirt stolen from football museum recovered

A rare Celtic football shirt that was stolen from the National Football Museum in Manchester has been recovered and returned.

The shirt was donated to the museum by Paul Lamb and is part of Celtic's away strip from the 1991/92 season and has the number 10 on the back.

It was stolen from the museum on February 1, which prompted an appeal by Greater Manchester Police to try and locate the suspect and return the shirt.

Now, the National Football Museum has announced on social media that the shirt has now been recovered and returned to them.

They wrote: "We are pleased to report that a Celtic football shirt stolen from our third-floor gallery on 1 Feb has been recovered and returned to the museum. Our CCTV undoubtedly played a part in securing this outcome."

The shirt's owner Paul, who lives in Bishopbriggs and runs the website mycelticshirts , previously said he was "gobsmacked" by the robbery.

Now, he has thanked the public for sharing the appeal, saying "Absolutely buzzing!!! Thank you so much to everyone for their support over the last month. I never thought I’d get to see this again. All your sharing of posts and media links has paid off."
