Toronto Raptors' rising star Scottie Barnes will be out of action indefinitely after suffering a broken middle finger on his left hand during Friday night's game against the Golden State Warriors.

Barnes, who was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2022 and earned his first All-Star selection this season, was averaging career highs of 20 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game prior to the injury.

The 6-foot-7 forward was forced to leave the game in the second quarter and headed to the locker room for treatment. Kelly Olynyk took his place in the starting lineup for the second half.

Raptors' head coach acknowledged the impact of Barnes' absence, stating, 'Losing an All-Star player during a game certainly changes our dynamics. We experimented with various lineups and players tonight, providing multiple opportunities to different individuals.'

Barnes was averaging career highs before the injury.

Despite finishing the game with 10 points and six rebounds in just 16 minutes of play, Barnes' injury ended his streak of five consecutive double-doubles.

Toronto, currently holding a 22-38 record and on a two-game losing streak, will face the Charlotte Hornets next as part of a four-game homestand.
