Rapper Young Dolph wounded after shooting in Hollywood's tourist district

LOS ANGELES _ A hip-hop artist was wounded in a shooting that sent police and paramedics flooding into Hollywood Boulevard's tourist center Tuesday afternoon, law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times.

The shooting was reported at Shoe Palace, near the famous TCL Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles police officials said.

Two law enforcement sources identified the victim as Young Dolph, a 32-year-old rapper. He was in critical condition Tuesday afternoon, the sources said.

An LAPD spokesman said no one has been arrested, but detectives located a gold Cadillac Escalade that was seen fleeing the incident.

The car was abandoned at Franklin and Highland avenues, said LAPD Officer Tony Im. It's unclear who owns it. Police have not found any weapons inside.

The sources spoke on the condition of anonymity since they were not authorized to discuss the case.

One person was hospitalized, according to a Los Angeles police spokesman, who declined to identify the victim.

Video from the scene showed police had taped off Highland Avenue and Johnny Grant Way, just steps from Hollywood Boulevard.

Young Dolph, whose real name is Adolph Thornton Jr., was scheduled to perform at the Marke in South Los Angeles on Thursday, before traveling to Georgia to open for hip-hop star 2 Chainz next week.
