RapperTI has expressed his love for his daughters and asked for their forgiveness in the wake of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna’s death.

On Monday, the rapper, whose real name is Clifford Joseph Harris Jr, dedicated a heartfelt Instagram post to his daughters Zonnique, 23, and Deyjah, 18, captioning photos of himself and the girls: “I love you girls more than my vocabulary will allow me to express.

“You have grown so much right before my very eyes & blossomed into strong, brilliantly opinionated, independent young women. I’m so proud of you both and I love you to no end, more than you’ll ever know.”

TI then took the opportunity to apologise to his daughters for his “imperfections”.

“Please forgive me for any and all imperfections that cause misunderstandings between us… Charge my mind, not my heart,” the Live Your Life rapper continued. “You see life may throw us curve balls and deal us some pretty bad hands at times. But rest assured, you’ll NEVER find yourself in a place too high or low for me to be there to catch you when you fall.”

According to the 39-year-old, who shared multiple tribute posts to Bryant after the basketball star died in a helicopter crash Sunday, he couldn’t “let another second go by without” letting his daughters know how much they mean to him.

“You have ALL MY LOVE FOR ALL MY LIFE… AND AFTER!” the rapper concluded.

The emotional post comes after TI faced backlash in November 2019 for comments he made regarding his 18-year-old daughter’s virginity during an interview on the Ladies Like Us podcast

At the time, the rapper said he took his daughter for annual gynaecologist appointments to check the status of her virginity.

After facing criticism over his comments, TI attempted to clarify his meaning during an episode of Red Table Talk, where he told Jada Pinkett Smith that many people had taken what he said “extremely literal” but that he had “embellished and exaggerated”.

The father-of-six did note, however, that his daughter had a problem with him discussing her virginity and that he was sorry.

“She did have a problem with me talking about it however, and I understand that, and I am incredibly apologetic to her for that,” he said at the time. “She understands my intentions and she knows who I am, who I’ve always been.”

Following the helicopter crash that killed Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter, and seven others who were on board, many have shared their own personal stories of the bonds between fathers and daughters in memory.

“As a father I can’t even imagine…” TI captioned photos of Bryant and his daughter.
