Rapper Snootie Wild left ‘fighting for life’ after being shot in the neck

Snootie Wild is reportedly "fighting for his life" after he was shot in the neck, according to reports in the United States.

The 36-year-old rapper, who was born in Memphis, Tennessee, was found in his SUV, which was in a ditch in Houston, Texas on Friday.

In a post on his social media, it was claimed that the rapper had not died in the incident but was being treated in hospital.

ABC13 reported that a statement on Snootie's social media read: "Snootie is not DEAD! But he is fighting for his life.

"Out of respect for the family, please refrain from sharing anything that is not communicated through his official accounts. Thank you."

It has been reported that police rushed to the scene after they were alerted by the Shotspotter Program that there had been shots fired.

The rapper reportedly received CPR at the scene before being taken to hospital, authorities have revealed.

Officer R. Willkens said about the incident: "It looks like he backed in there (the ditch) accidentally. Then the other vehicle pulled up, and folks got out of the car.

"They were talking for a little bit, and then all of a sudden, gunfire went off. Only one shot, actually."

Snootie, whose real name is LePreston Porter, has been given a 50/50 chance of survival by doctors at the hospital who are treating him.

The incident was reportedly caught on camera by a neighbour, which is helping investigators with their inquiries.

The rapper is best known for his hit single 'Yayo' which featured Yo Gotti and police are looking for a man and a woman who they believe are the main suspects.
