- Award-winning rapper Ghetts, real name Justin Clarke-Samuel, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for causing the death of student Yubin Tamang in a hit-and-run.
- The 41-year-old struck 20-year-old Tamang with his BMW in north-east London in October while speeding and exceeding the drink-drive limit.
- Clarke-Samuel failed to stop after the collision, leaving Mr Tamang with catastrophic injuries from which he died two days later.
- He admitted to causing death by dangerous driving, along with a charge of dangerous driving, with Judge Mark Lucraft KC describing CCTV footage of the incident as “simply shocking”.
- In addition to the prison sentence, Clarke-Samuel has been disqualified from driving for 17 years.
