Jayson Scott, the 23-year-old son of rapper Remy Ma, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
Scott was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the alleged murder of Darius Guillebeaux, 47, who was fatally shot in June 2021. According to the NYPD, the incident occurred on June 7, 2021, following a dispute.
In addition to first-degree murder, Scott faces charges of second-degree murder, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, and first-degree reckless endangerment.
Another individual, Richard Swygert, 22, was also charged in connection with the murder.
ABC News reports that the charges stem from a violent altercation that ended with Guillebeaux's death. The police statement regarding the incident detailed that police found the 47-year-old man, unconscious and unresponsive, with "multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest." Emergency service transported the victim to the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Scott remains in custody, and both he and Swygert are expected to face court proceedings in the near future. If convicted, they could both face significant prison time. The arrest has drawn considerable media attention due to Scott's connection to his high-profile mother, Remy Ma, a prominent figure in the music industry.
