Rapper Biz Markie has been hospitalised for weeks battling a 'serious illness'

Biz Markie has been hospitalised for weeks as he battles a serious illness, his rep has confirmed.

The Just a Friend rapper, 56, suffers from Type II Diabetes, which has triggered his current illness, TMZ reports.

He's currently in a hospital in Maryland in the US and the status of his condition is unclear but it does appear to be serious.

Biz, whose real name is Marcel Theo Hall, doesn't have coronavirus, the rep added.

His rep told the website: "He is receiving the best care from an amazing team of medical professionals and we remain positive about the outcome."
