Detroit rapper Baby Smoove, known for his track Losing My Mind, which became an older viral song on TikTok, found himself in serious legal trouble this week after he was arrested in Miami on a staggering seven felony charges related to drugs and weapons.
This is tough news for the musician, real name Jaelin Deanta Parker, because it all started with a simple traffic stop that escalated dramatically after police say he was smoking in his own car, per TMZ.
You’d think if you were cruising around Miami late Wednesday night in a heavily tinted, bright yellow Lamborghini, you’d want to keep a low profile, but police say Smoove just couldn’t wait to light up. According to online records from the Miami Police Department, when an officer approached the extremely posh vehicle, they immediately noticed a huge cloud of smoke wafting out and a “strong odor of marijuana.”
That initial whiff of smoke quickly turned into a major crisis for the rapper and his two passengers when the officer spotted a handgun tucked under the driver’s seat. All three occupants were asked to exit the vehicle and were swiftly arrested.

Police stated the arrests were necessary because none of the occupants were legally allowed to possess firearms, and the gun was accessible to anyone in the car. Once the three were out of the car, the searching began, and officers found a lot of evidence. The firearm was identified as a black Taurus PT809 with 16 live 9mm rounds in the magazine and one round already in the chamber.
But the discovery didn’t stop with the gun. Officers found a hidden compartment in the vehicle containing a yellow pill bottle. This bottle held suspected oxycodone, xanax, and tizanidine hydrochloride, which is a common prescription muscle relaxant. Finding a hidden stash of multiple controlled substances is never a good sign, but the situation got even worse when they located a yellow backpack. From one viral song to a definite charge.

Smoove reportedly told authorities that while he didn’t know who the gun belonged to, the yellow backpack was definitely his. Inside that bag, police discovered a massive haul: $30,000 in cash, 81.9 grams of suspected marijuana, 12 canisters of suspected THC wax, and a bottle of promethazine, a prescription antihistamine often associated with drug use.
The sheer volume and gravity of the discovery led to Smoove being slapped with seven felony counts. Four of those counts were for being in possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell or deliver while armed.
That “while armed” part is a top-tier penalty enhancer and really ratchets up the seriousness of the charges. He also faces one count of possessing marijuana with intent to sell or deliver while armed, one count for intending to manufacture or sell prescription drugs, and one count for carrying a concealed firearm.
