Raphinha 'snubs' new Leeds United contract amid Liverpool transfer links

Leeds United winger Raphinha has reportedly rejected a new contract offer from the club.

The Brazil international has sparkled since joining the Yorkshire outfit at the start of last season and has been linked with a number of elite clubs as a result, including Liverpool.

It had been reported recently that Leeds were expecting Raphinha to sign a new deal, which would have potentially put off high-profile suitors come the end of the season.

However, it has been reported by Goal that the 25-year-old is now ready to consider his options after a stellar campaign.

"Raphinha's preference is to stay in the Premier League, but he would rather join a team that can regularly compete for silverware," it's said in the report.

"The country's top teams are already eyeing his signing in the summer transfer window."

Liverpool are currently blessed with a plethora of world-class attacking talent, especially after the addition of Luis Diaz from Porto in the January transfer window.

The ECHO understands that the Reds were considering adding to their firepower in the summer, although it's unclear whether the Colombian's arrival will alter those plans.

Given his penchant for darting infield from the right flank onto his left foot, Raphinha would potentially represent an excellent stylistic alternative to Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian's future on Merseyside is far from certain, too, as he's yet to agree an extension to his contract that expires at the end of next season.

While Raphinha had a rare off day against Everton on Saturday - he was hooked by Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa at half-time - he has an impressive haul of eight goals and two assists in the Premier League this season.
